BOE's OLED shipments were strong last year: skyrocketed 7 times

According to recent data released by market research company Omdia, BOE's OLED panel shipments in 2019 were seven times that of the same period of the previous year, showing that the Chinese panel manufacturer's entry into the OLED market is strong. In 2019, BOE shipped 39.1 million OLED panels. Among them, there are 22.1 million rigid displays and 17 million flexible displays. Compared with 2018, the company's rigid panel shipments increased 12 times, and flexible panel shipments increased more than 4 times. In addition to BOE, other Chinese panel companies have also been competing to launch more OLED displays. The In the flexible OLED panel market, BOE is the largest company in China; Visionox followed closely last year and shipped a total of 2.6 million panels; other companies such as Tianma and Rouyu also entered the flexible OLED panel market in 2019. The company's panel shipments are about 10,000.   In terms of rigid OLED panels, BOE ranked second in the country, the first is Hehui Optoelectronics, which shipped 26.7 million. In total, Chinese panel makers shipped 105 million panels in 2019, a significant increase from the 32 million in 2018. Among them, a total of 53.8 million smart watch panels were shipped, and 52 million smart phone panels. In terms of smartphone panels, BOE shipped a total of 17 million OLED panels; followed by Hehui Optoelectronics, which shipped 15.5 million units; followed by Visionox 14.4 million units; Tianma 5.1 million units. On smart watch panels, BOE shipped 22.1 million units; followed by TRULY's 16.7 million units; Hehui Optoelectronics' 11.2 million units; Visionox 3.5 million units; Tianma 300,000 units. Korean media pointed out that the target of Chinese panel makers this year is to ship 128 million smartphone OLED panels, which is about 2.5 times that of 2019. This also means that Chinese panel manufacturers will occupy about 25% of the global market share. Especially for BOE, its success this year will mainly depend on whether it can supply screens for the 6.06-inch iPhone released in the second half of this year.
